The Calais Jungle is a makeshift camp for about 8000 immigrants. All of them are looking and hoping to get to England to start a new life or seek a fortune. The UK won't let them in and France wants them gone. It has been a thorn in the eye of the mayor of Calais for years and during the past 12 months the problems those living in the camp have been causing have escalated badly. Young men, desperate to get to the UK, have been attacking truck drivers making the drive to England to try and get aboard their trucks. They've put up roadblocks and kicked up a stink.
Enough was enough and the French authorities have finally decided to break up the camp and move the people on to other camps to await their fate.
