In The Picture: Oscar Beins

In The Picture: Oscar Beins

A couple of years ago there was an announcement that Ukraine no longer allows people to visit Chernobyl. That was a reason for me to buy a camera and a few weeks later I was walking in the exclusion zone. People thought I was crazy to go to a place with this many health risks involved. For me to see this abandoned place with one of the biggest story’s behind it, took the fear away. From that moment my interest in urban exploring has grown. Driving true Europe to explore all kind of abandoned places is a weekly thing now. Of course urban exploring knows many risks. It also gives you a kind of adrenaline not to get caught or know what you can expect. Sometimes you really have to try hard to find an entry of a building. Once you get in and you find this beautiful pool or anything else, you know it was totally worth the trouble. Every building has his own story and every room can tell you a part of this story. Even though some people think it’s weird to go abroad to take pictures of empty buildings, for me it beats visiting a museum any day. If you want to see more of my work please have a look on my page. We'd like to thank Oscar for sharing his photos. Visit his website for more of his work. If you want your work featured please on TotallyCoolPix please contact us and include some samples.
