Euro 2012: Portugal vs The Netherlands
This was another do or die game in Group B. It depended on the result in the game between Denmark and Germany whether Portugal were allowed to win, draw or lose and still go through. The Netherlands HAD to win by two clear goals to have any chance of progressing and even then they'd be dependent on Germany beating Denmark. After some heavy critism of the Dutch performances in previous games some players lost their place in the team and the new set up was geared towards attack. The Dutch started well enough with a beautiful goal by Van Der Vaart in only the 11th minute. The Comeback Of Kharkiv was on. Or so the fans thought. The Dutch performace started waning and the Portuguese were simply biding their time. Through some brilliant counter attacking and some horrible Dutch defending star man Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of Euro 2012. In the second half the Dutch were nowhere and Ronaldo was able to add a second goal. Portugal through to the quarters and the Dutch home to Holland, with the worst result for them (zero points) ever.
