Euro 2012: England vs Ukraine
The England vs Ukraine game was about the Return Of Rooney and whether Shevchenko would be fit enough to play in possibly his last ever game for his beloved country. The first half was okay to watch, but nothing special. The real fun and drama started in the second half. England had the upper hand with the Ukraine falling back further and further towards their own goal. The inevitable happened when Gerrard whipped in a well hit cross and the Ukraine defense and goalkeeper messed it all up, giving Wayne Rooney a simple header to put England up one nil. The Ukraine felt dejected and a another England goal was in the making, but with a second lease of life the Ukraine started attacking. They even had a clear goal (if you discount the offside which preceded it) disallowed after none of the Uefa officials saw it cross the line. Local hero Shevchenko came on with 20 minutes to play, but he could not make the difference in this game. England get to play italy in the quarter finals and the Ukraine get to stay home.
