Tour De France 2011: 2nd Week Highlights
The second week of the Tour de France was supposed to be about the mountain stages and the GC riders going for it. It turned out different. A little Frenchman, Thomas Voeckler, is still in the Yellow Jersey, the main GC riders didn't leave each other's side for fear of something only they know about, Mark Cavendish added two more stage wins to his impressive tally and is now also the wearer of the coveted Green Jersey, riders still fell off their bikes, but less so. The most impressive feat of the second week was World Champion and former sprinter Thor Hushovd winning a mountain stage in an almost solo ride. Deep respect for the powerhouse from Norway for that. The riders are enjoying their second rest day today and start pedaling to Paris tomorrow. Hopefully the Alps can bring to this year's Tour what the Pyrenees didn't.
